Artificial Neural Networks
Forecasting with artificial neural networks has received increasing interest in various research and application domains.
In order to disseminate knowledge shared between the diverse disciplines of engineering, computer science & artificial intelligence, information systems, management, econometrics and adjacent areas we have created a non-profit portal to collect information on all issues related to forecasting, prediction, demand planning, predictive analytics and temporal data mining with artificial neural networks.
The material for this Special Interest Group & the portal at www.neural-forecasting.com is organized and submitted by Sven F. Crone at Lancaster University's Centre for Forecasting, the Laboratory on Business Intelligence in Information Systems, and the University of Hamburg. B I3S lab. It includes tutorials on forecasting with neural networks in different application domains (regression & classification), data sources, contacts within the widespread community, links to publications, current news and events as well as software, including the opportunity to order a complimentary CD of the most prominent software simulators as well as interactive resources as Newsletters, Mailing list, Web Chats etc.

What is New?
Considering the age of forecasting, the models, methods and practices discussed on these pages, neural networks themselves are new in the forecasting domain. Being developed since the late 1940s, their first (non-linear) forecasting application was published by Halbert White on the prediction of IBM stock prices in 1981. More recently, a new webpage was set up in mid 2004 focusing specifically on forecasting with neural networks … so good news really!
